Classes and Programming

General Class Information

  • Enrollment begins May 1, 2018
  • Classes for the 2018-2019 year begin August 20, 2018.
  • Faculty and schedule are subject to change 
  • A minimum enrollment of 3-5 full paying students is required for a class to be maintained.
  • All registration forms must be completed and turned in to the Office Manager (ttimmons@spartanarts.com
  • Students are assigned classes and instructors upon approval of Ballet Master, Lona Gomez.
  • Students who graduate from High School are required to take Adult Classes.
  • To withdraw a student, complete withdrawal form, and submit to the Office Manager (ttimmons@spartanarts.com). A withdrawal form must be submitted to ensure a refund.
  • INCLEMENT Weather. Please note that we follow the openings/closings of the Chapman Cultural Center. We will try our very best to notify of any changes due to inclement weather via email and FaceBook.
  • The Sock Basket will be in the lobby on August 15th and 16th to take orders for any danceware needed for the season. Please join us in Studio 4 from 1-6pm to place your order.

Toddler Division (ages 2-3)

Toddler Division (ages 2-3)

The Center for Dance Education Toddler Division for 2-3 year-olds focuses on movement, music and creativity.This class is designed to introduce the very young student to locomotive movement and music, combining stories and music in a child-centered setting supporting and developing body awareness and rhythm.

Tap and Twirl (ages 3-5)

Tap and Twirl (ages 3-5)

The Center for Dance Education Tap and Twirl Division for 3-5 year-olds focuses on an imaginative introduction to tap and jazz. This child-centered class combines a gentle introduction of tap and jazz movement and vocabulary with the mindfulness of the age of the student.

Creative Division (ages 3-4)

Creative Division (ages 3-4)

The Center for Dance Education Creative Division focuses on creativity, fostering a love of dance, group interaction, and the joy of self-expression. The class is ballet based.The Creative Movement syllabus is designed to gently introduce our youngest students to a happy and safe classroom environment, while instilling the physical and emotional confidence to explore and create. This class is open to boys and girls. Social skills are also developed through collaborative and cooperative games. Creative Movement students participate in the end of the year dance demonstration in the Chapman Cultural Center.

Ballet Spartanburg Receives 2018
Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Award

Ballet Spartanburg has received the 2018 Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Award. This award is given each year by the South Carolina Arts Commission to recognize exemplary artists and arts organizations for the State of South Carolina. “Each recipient of these Verner Awards is an outstanding ambassador for our state and contributes greatly not just to the arts community, but the overall quality of life.  As the Arts Commission nears completion of its 50th anniversary celebration, we are honored to recognize organizations and individuals who live out the service, commitment and passion that helped the arts here thrive throughout the last half century."
