En Studio: Vines & Variations is an intimate Studio Series experience held within a transformed dual-studio environment, reimagined with blackout draping, candlelit tables, and a shared atmosphere designed to bring audience and artist into close proximity.
This is a mature audience experience recommended for ages 12 and up. With only 70 seats available per performance, guests are placed directly within the space where the work is created and performed.
Audience members enjoy small nibbles, desserts, and wine service as part of the evening, creating a social and immersive environment where performance unfolds around them.
Vines & Variations is part of the Studies in Motion Initiative, a platform that allows Ballet Spartanburg Company Artists to explore and expand their choreographic voice.
Each artist creates original work inspired by the theme of “Vines & Variations,” interpreting it through classical, neoclassical, contemporary, or modern movement languages. The result is a curated collection of pieces that reflect individuality while remaining connected through a shared conceptual framework.
This initiative supports artistic growth, experimentation, and the development of voice within the company.
This is a performance shaped by proximity and presence.
Company Artists perform within an intimate environment where every detail of movement, timing, and expression is experienced up close. The space itself becomes part of the work, shifting the relationship between audience and performer.
Lighting, staging, and design elements are integrated to create a warm, immersive atmosphere that complements both the choreography and the social nature of the evening.
With only 70 seats per performance, En Studio: Vines & Variations is intentionally limited in scale. Last season, all performances sold out within 48 hours, with an additional show added that also reached capacity.
This is not a traditional performance. It is an evening experience where dance, environment, and hospitality exist together in a shared space.
Seating is extremely limited and is expected to sell quickly.
Each production is part of a larger artistic arc defining a new era for Ballet Spartanburg.
