Land of Sweets, A Nutcracker Party - SIX SEATS AVAILABLE

Our annual Land of Sweets party for our young Nutcracker fans is almost here. The tables are sold out - but we still have six seats left! We try to sprinkle "a little MORE magic" on top of our event each year. Attendees will enjoy dancing, face painting, pictures with their favorite Nutcracker characters, a sing-a-long with the Party Girls, and, of course, sweets! Please note: a $50 child's ticket includes one parent. An additional ticket at the "$40 for a child" is for a child only (no additional parents are included in this purchase). Purchasing a table allows ten children and up to ten parents to attend. Children are seated and parents stand and help navigate children to the different activities.

The Nutcracker

For 35 years in Spartanburg, the delightful story of Clara and her adventures on Christmas Eve has been a part of over 90,000 families’ Holiday Season. This timeless treasure for Spartanburg and beyond is the only classical production on The Nutcracker. This year, we celebrate with new costumes, new choreography, and enchanting surprises, all while partnering with the brilliant music of the Spartanburg Philharmonic (for our fifth season together). This 35th Nutcracker is dedicated to Carlos Agudelo, Artistic Director. All performances are at the historic Twichell Auditorium on the Converse University campus: Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3:00 PM.

West African Dance Classes

Ballet Spartanburg is pleased to again offer West African Community Dance classes at no cost to the community - thanks to our generous sponsors! This class is open to anyone who would like to learn about the history of West African Dance, the culture, and the many variations of this art form. Participants will also enjoy movement, exercise, and freedom of spirit and mind. Classes are taught by an exceptional African Dance instructor, Angela Gibson, and accompanied by skilled drummer Hamadi Brown.

Ballet, Bourbon & Blues

Here is an immersive trifecta that you will not want to miss. Audiences will sample selected bourbons while The Company dances to “smooth, fiery, bold, spicy and mellow” musical notes, with music from Blues artists. Buffalo Trace and other well-known aged whiskey bourbons will be part of the evening. Bubbly and nibbles will also be included. All performances are held in our Dance Studio at the Chapman Cultural Center. Directed by Lona Gomez, Artistic Director.

Giselle

This breathtaking ballet includes young love, tragic heartbreak, and a well-known spectacular Act II - with Giselle and the Willies dancing in the iconic graveyard scene. Giselle has all the beautiful elements of a French ballet, hauntingly elegant and exquisite in its choreography. Performances are at the Chapman Cultural Center on Friday and Saturday evening at 7:00 PM, and Sunday matinee at 3:00 PM. Directed by Lona Gomez, Artistic Director.

Ballet With Bucko

We will again have a BALL with fun friends in a beautiful setting! Attendees will dress in white this upcoming year and still experience an incredible five-course meal created by Cribb's Catering. The Company will perform and illuminate the evening. Save the date of May 8, 2026 and purchase your tickets early. This event sells out year after year.
