Follow Dorothy and her friends down the yellow brick road in the beloved American classic, The Wizard of Oz. With all original choreography and costuming, this ballet will premiere for the first time in the Upstate. Whimsical characters, stunning costumes and beautiful choreography, the Poppies you will adore, the Lollipop Kids will amaze you and the Emerald City with all of its green magic, will transform you into the magical world of Oz.

Join Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, and the Sugarplum Fairy for a magical afternoon on Saturday, November 21st! Our Land of Sweets party returns to the Chapman Cultural Center this year with sweets, face-painting, story time with Clara, and dancing with beloved Nutcracker characters! Kick off The Nutcracker season with us from 2:30-5:00 pm on Sunday, November 21st! Individual tickets are $35 per child. Parents do not need to purchase a ticket. You may also purchase a table for 10 children for $325 ( a $25 discounted price). All tickets/tables may be purchased by visiting or calling the Ballet Spartanburg office at 864-583-0339.

To mark our 56th season and Carlos Agudelo’s 30th production of The Nutcracker, for the first time in 20 years we are thrilled to announce that we will be collaborating with the Spartanburg Philharmonic to bring Tchaikovsky’s most beloved Christmas musical score to life. We will present Spartanburg's most beloved Christmas tradition in this season.

Le Carabet Rouge will be presented February 11 & 12, 2022. Set in Paris, 1900, Le Cabaret Rouge is the story of an innocent young flower seller who lives in the town of Montmartre, Paris. With a chance meeting of a Parisian business owner, the flower seller’s life dramatically changes. ***SPECIAL EVENT & NOT PART OF A 2021/2022 MEMBERSHIP SEASON***

An Evening With Carlos Agudelo will be performed March 24 & 26, 2022. Join us for a beautiful evening highlighting ballets from our 2020 collaboration with the Hub City Writers Project. The evening will include champagne, chocolate, and toasts to the visionary excellence that Carlos Agudelo has shared through dance with our community and beyond.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream will be performed April 22 & 23, 2022. Shakespeare’s most famous, lighthearted and funny tale of young love, is full of magical creatures, mischief and mayhem. This hilarious tale of silly seduction and romance is one of Mendelssohn’s most enchanting uses of music.

Ballet Spartanburg

Education. Outreach. Performance.

The joyful picture above of children from Sidewalk Hope, an inner city ministry in Spartanburg, captures the essence and innocence of joy, hope, and the connections that are created when we dance.  Sidewalk Hope participated in the 2018 So You Think You Can Dance, Spartanburg! community event, a fundraiser in partnership with 10 local organizations. The picture above reflects opportunity, joy, happiness, dance and above all, who we are as an organization: education, outreach and performance. We will present So You Think You Can Dance, Spartanburg!, March 31, 2022. Please look for our event as we post information later this summer.

The happiness in dancing on stage is reflected in this precious little dancer's eyes and body.  Arms open, lights aglow,  feet planted firmly on the stage, basking joyfully from a successful performance. This is the feeling we have as we anticipate returning to the stage this October with the premiere of Carlos Agudelo's, The Wizard of Oz.. Ballet Spartanburg and its Board of Trustees and staff will monitor and adjust all health and safety precautions as directed by the CDC. We are ready to to dance. We are ready to see our audience. We are ready.
