SOFIA ELENE RODRIGUES was born in Hawthorne, New Jersey and began her ballet training at Miss Patti’s School of Dance at the age of six. At eleven, she was accepted into the School of American Ballet, where she trained for seven years.
While at the School of American Ballet, Sofia performed alongside New York City Ballet in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. Her repertoire also includes George Balanchine’s Western Symphonyand Who Cares?, Jerome Robbins’ Glass Pieces and Christopher Wheeldon’s Scènes de Ballet. Through the School of American Ballet, she also collaborated with emerging choreographers from the New York Choreographic Institute.
Sofia has attended summer programs at American Ballet Theatre, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Chautauqua Institution and Carolina Ballet.
Sofia joins Ballet Spartanburg as a member of the Corps de Ballet for the 2026–2027 season.
