NATE NETTLES is from Greensboro, NC. He began his training at the age of eight with Greensboro Ballet and continued his training with UNCSA through their Preparatory Dance and High School Classical Ballet programs. Nate took summer courses on scholarship at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Boys Ballet Summer Intensive, Charlotte Ballet, Ballet Austin, Nashville Ballet, and Carolina Ballet. He also studied with Misha Tchoupakov and Peter Stark. While at UNCSA, Nate performed in George Balanchine’s Serenade, Ilya Kozadayev’s Nutcracker, Ilya Kozadayev’s Etude 6, Jared Redick’s Etudes 4 15, Mikhail Tchoupakov’s Czardas, and Tom Gold’s Next Stop Is. He has had the pleasure of performing alongside Dance Theater of Harlem in Joplin Dances. As a reoccurring guest artist with Triad International Ballet, Nate danced in featured roles in Natasha Davison’s Nutcracker as Cavalier, Maria Alexandrovna’s Romeo and Juliet as Benvolio, and Yuri Grigorovich’s Sleeping Beauty. Nate is delighted to start his professional career with Ballet Spartanburg and to now call Spartanburg home.

Carlos Agudelo, 2023 SC Governor's Award for an Individual

Ballet Spartanburg's Artistic Director, Carlos Agudelo, was awarded the South Carolina Governor's Award from the South Carolina Arts Commission on May 23, 2023, at the Chapman Cultural Center. The award was presented by Mr. David Platt, Executive Director of the South Carolina Arts Commission. "We recognize the unparalleled energy, enthusiasm, devotion and love for dance that Carlos has gifted to our community out of his passion for all to experience the arts for the past 32 years. We are overjoyed that Carlos has been recognized by the South Carolina Arts Commission, " Teresa S. Berline, Executive Director. "The South Carolina Arts Commission is an extraordinary organization in our state which promotes and advocates opportunities in the arts which values equality, access, diversity and inclusion. Ballet Spartanburg is honored by the support of the South Carolina Arts Commission and the recognition of Carlos Agudelo."
