NATE NETTLES was born in Nassau, New York and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he began his ballet training at age eight with Greensboro Ballet. He continued his training through the University of North Carolina School of the Arts’ Preparatory Dance and High School Classical Ballet programs and studied with Misha Tchoupakov and Peter Stark.
Nate has attended summer programs on scholarship with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Boys Ballet Summer Intensive, Charlotte Ballet, Ballet Austin, Nashville Ballet and Carolina Ballet. During his training, he performed in works by George Balanchine, Ilya Kozadayev, Jared Redick and Tom Gold, and appeared alongside Dance Theatre of Harlem in Joplin Dances. As a recurring guest artist with Triad International Ballet, he performed featured roles including Cavalier in The Nutcracker, Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet and roles in The Sleeping Beauty.
Nate joined Ballet Spartanburg in 2025. His Ballet Spartanburg repertoire includes the title role in The Nutcracker, Hilarion and Wilfred in Giselle, Doll in Coppélia, Baseball Player in The Mighty Casey and performances in Ballet, Bourbon & Blues.
Nate returns for his second season with Ballet Spartanburg in 2026–2027.
