JEFFREY DAVIS (Zang Yu-Wen) was born in Zhenjiang, China and raised in Tucson, Arizona. He began dancing at age eight at ED Dance Art Center and started his professional ballet training in 2022 with Ballet Tucson under the direction of Danielle and Liang Fu.
While training with Ballet Tucson, Jeffrey performed in productions including The Nutcracker, Cinderella’s Gift and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In 2024, he joined Colburn Dance Academy under the leadership of Artistic Director Janie Taylor, where he continued his artistic and technical development.
His repertoire includes George Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky Suite No. 3, Episodes, excerpts from Emeralds and Divertimento No. 15; Benjamin Millepied’s 28 Variations on a Theme by Paganini; Janie Taylor’s Sonata for Sarra; Kyle Abraham’s If You Run I May Fall; Sasha Janes’ We Dance Through Life; Kara Wilkes’ A Tale of AI Ascension; and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux’s Shindig.
Jeffrey joins Ballet Spartanburg as a member of the Corps de Ballet for the 2026–2027 season.
Ballet Spartanburg's Artistic Director, Carlos Agudelo, was awarded the South Carolina Governor's Award from the South Carolina Arts Commission on May 23, 2023, at the Chapman Cultural Center. The award was presented by Mr. David Platt, Executive Director of the South Carolina Arts Commission. "We recognize the unparalleled energy, enthusiasm, devotion and love for dance that Carlos has gifted to our community out of his passion for all to experience the arts for the past 32 years. We are overjoyed that Carlos has been recognized by the South Carolina Arts Commission, " Teresa S. Berline, Executive Director.
