GABRIEL WEINER was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. A second-generation dancer, he began his formal ballet training with Metropolitan Youth Ballet of Indiana under the direction of his parents, Jane Hachiya Weiner and Frank Weiner.
Gabriel earned a Bachelor of Science in Ballet from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in 2025. Following graduation, he joined Grand Rapids Ballet as an Apprentice for the 2025–2026 season, where he performed works by George Balanchine, Mark Morris, Justin Peck and Dwight Rhoden.
His featured repertoire includes soloist roles in Justin Peck’s Heatscape and Lauren Lovette’s Le jeune, as well as a principal role in Sasha Janes’ The Nutcracker. Gabriel has also performed lead roles in Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Firebird, Les Sylphides, Alice in Wonderland and The Nutcracker as a guest artist throughout the United States.
Gabriel attended summer programs at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Austin and Chautauqua Institution.
Gabriel joins Ballet Spartanburg as a Demi-Soloist for the 2026–2027 season.
Ballet Spartanburg's Artistic Director, Carlos Agudelo, was awarded the South Carolina Governor's Award from the South Carolina Arts Commission on May 23, 2023, at the Chapman Cultural Center. The award was presented by Mr. David Platt, Executive Director of the South Carolina Arts Commission. "We recognize the unparalleled energy, enthusiasm, devotion and love for dance that Carlos has gifted to our community out of his passion for all to experience the arts for the past 32 years. We are overjoyed that Carlos has been recognized by the South Carolina Arts Commission, " Teresa S. Berline, Executive Director. "The South Carolina Arts Commission is an extraordinary organization in our state which promotes and advocates opportunities in the arts which values equality, access, diversity and inclusion.
