Adaptive Dance

Exploring Dance, Rhythm and Meeting New Friends

Adaptive Dance is a class for children ages 9-15 with special needs, such as Autism, Downs Syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. The classes empahsize creative movement principals and simplified ballet techniques. The class is tailored to address sensory sensitivties and include motor movement in a structured studio environment.

The class is taught by Elaine Lang, RNMS, CNS-BS. Mrs. Lang is a yoga therapist, counselor and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Elaine is a dance enthusiast and has studied dance throughout her life.

Classes take place during two six week sessions with one in the fall and one in the spring. ​

Ballet Spartanburg Receives 2018
Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Award

Ballet Spartanburg has received the 2018 Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Award. This award is given each year by the South Carolina Arts Commission to recognize exemplary artists and arts organizations for the State of South Carolina. “Each recipient of these Verner Awards is an outstanding ambassador for our state and contributes greatly not just to the arts community, but the overall quality of life.  As the Arts Commission nears completion of its 50th anniversary celebration, we are honored to recognize organizations and individuals who live out the service, commitment and passion that helped the arts here thrive throughout the last half century."
